In the midst of his nasty split from Shakira, Gerard Piqué is speaking out. The former soccer player addressed their headline-making breakup for the first time,
telling El Pais that "everyone has a responsibility to try to do what is best for their children."
Piqué, 36, and the 46-year-old Latin superstar share two children: sons, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8. "It's about protecting them," Piqué told E! The news.
It is the job of all parents with children. That is what I am focused on and that is what my job is as a father."
Athlete Sean Taylor, 23, came out last year with 23-year-old girlfriend Clara Chia Mart.
"I keep doing what I want," he said. At the end of my life, I hope I did everything I wanted to do.
I want to be faithful to myself. I won't spend money cleaning up my image."The people who know me are the ones I love and care about most.""
Piqué continued, "I spend my energy on being with my loved ones and giving them what I have. There have been changes in my life, but I know how to preserve happiness."."
After 11 years together, Piqué and Shakira announced their separation in June 2022.
Although the split seemed amicable at first, rumors of his infidelity spread in the tabloids. In the press, Shakira did not hide her heartbreak.
