Raptors booted Anthony Edwards.

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard Anthony Edwards missed his first game of the season Saturday against the Toronto Raptors due to a right ankle strain.

Edwards fell awkwardly after passing in Friday night's loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Edwards yelled in pain and could not put any weight on his right leg as he was taken to the locker room,

indicating a catastrophic injury. Walking boot-clad, he returned.

Edwards was listed as questionable for Saturday's game, but the Timberwolves later ruled him out.

Minnesota coach Chris Finch said Edwards is still wearing the protective boot and the club doesn't know when he'll return.

"I couldn't walk on it," Edwards remarked Friday night. "Try it tomorrow."

Edwards played eight minutes and went 3-of-4 from the field for eight points and an assist before spraining his ankle.

He was the only Minnesota player to play all 71 games. Karl-Anthony Towns has been out since Nov. 28 with a calf injury.
