Alex Ovechkin became the first NHL player to record 13 40-goal seasons
in the first period of Tuesday's home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ovechkin moved right and shot towards the far post.
When a review revealed that Columbus defenseman Nick Blankenburg
had deflected the puck into the net, Ovechkin was awarded the goal.
Since 2005-06, only Ovechkin has had more than six 40-goal seasons.
Ovechkin is closing in on Gretzky's goal-scoring record.
