First Day of Spring Snow

Central and southwest Montana's higher elevations have a winter weather advisory until Tuesday evening.

Spring! The start of spring was snowy and frigid, notwithstanding the calendar.

Montana gets snow year-round, but the pattern is colder and snowier today.

Light to moderate snow will spread north through Montana into Monday night,

reaching the Missouri River in north-central Montana.

Snow will fall from a trace to 3" in lower elevations and up to 5" in Helena's hills.

Southwest Montana's highest peaks will get 12". As the stronger March sun sets,

that snow will pile on roads, making nighttime and Tuesday early travel difficult.
