The 92-year-old media billionaire, who has been married four times,
"dreaded" falling in love again but is delighted with Ann Lesley Smith, 66,
so he proposed on St. Patrick's Day on Friday (17.04.23) after six months together.
“I'm one-fourth Irish,” he told New York Post columnist Cindy Adams of the date's importance.
Rupert said he was "extremely scared" before proposing with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire.
“I was quite nervous.” I hated falling in love but knew it would be my last. Hopefully. Happy.”
The bride-to-be, who was married to late country musician and media executive Chester Smith, called Rupert a "gift from God".
She said: “For us both it's a gift from God. September. 14-year widow. Rupert and my husband were businessmen.
