Spring 2023 is almost here, so put away those winter gloves and put on some shorts.
Spring officially begins on Monday, March 20, with the spring equinox,
despite frigid temperatures in New Jersey this weekend.
The sun will cross the Earth's equator at 5:24 p.m. Eastern time Monday, marking the start of spring 2023.
The spring equinox is also known as the March or vernal equinox.
The word "equinox" comes from two Latin words: "equi," meaning "equal," and "nox," meaning "night."
The Farmers' Almanac, a competitor of the Old Farmer's Almanac, calls this annual event the vernal equinox,
which means "new" and "fresh." The northern hemisphere's spring equinox always falls on March 19, 20, or 21.
